Target Compiler Technologies is
the leading provider of retargetable software tools for the
design, programming, and verification of flexible
intellectual property (IP) cores for the electronics
industry, in the form of application-specific processors
(ASIPs).
Since their introduction, Target's tools have been and are being used successfully
by major electronic system and semiconductor companies, in the design of
systems-on-a-chip for products ranging from 3G phones, over car radio, portable
media players, xDSL modems, to hearing instruments.
Target is headquartered out of Leuven,
Belgium, and has sales and distribution channels in the
United States and Japan.
Target's shareholders are IT Partners (a Belgian venture
capital fund for companies active in information technologies), Software Holding and Finance (a Belgian
private holding, investing in high-tech companies) and Tetracom
(a group representing Target's management).

Target was founded in 1996, by Gert Goossens
(CEO), Dirk Lanneer, Werner Geurts and Johan
Van Praet (VPs Engineering). The management team furthermore consists of Jeroen
De Lille (VP Sales and Marketing) and Steve Cox (VP Business
Development for North America).
Target is a spin-off of the Belgian micro-electronics research centre IMEC.
In 1997, Target was awarded the European
IT Prize, an award presented by the European Commission to "outstanding
contributions in generating and converting innovative ideas and R&D
results into marketable products based on Information Technology".
Target is a member of DSP Valley
(a consortium of companies
and institutions active in design methodologies, tools, systems and applications
for digital signal processing) and of the
Electronic Design Automation Consortium (the international
association of design tool manufacturers for the electronics
industry).
