About Target

Founded in 1996, Target Compiler Technologies is one of the pioneers of configurable processor technology.

Target Compiler Technologies is the leading provider of retargetable software tools for the design, programming, and verification of application-specific processors (ASIPs). ASIPs are key building blocks of both single-core and multi-core systems-on-chip (SoCs) that power today’s electronic systems.

Since their introduction, Target's tools have been and are being used successfully by major electronic system and semiconductor companies in the design of SoCs for products ranging from cordless and 3G phones to other products such as car radio, portable media players, high-definition video, xDSL modems, DSL access multiplexers, and hearing instruments.

Target strongly believes that ASIPs must be created with retargetable software tools. Such tools extend beyond the architectural limits of configurable processor templates, as offered by intellectual property vendors. This allows our customers to design their own differentiating intellectual property, for which an efficient C-based software development tool kit as well as an RTL hardware implementation become available easily.

Target is headquartered out of Leuven, Belgium, has its North American operation in Boulder, Colorado, and has a sales and distribution channel in Japan. Target was founded in 1996 as a spin-off of the Belgian micro-electronics research centre IMEC.

Target's shareholders are IT Partners (a Belgian venture capital fund for companies active in information technologies), Software Holding and Finance (a Belgian private holding, investing in high-tech companies) and Tetracom (a group representing Target's management).

Target is a member of DSP Valley (a consortium of companies and institutions active in design methodologies, tools, systems and applications for digital signal processing) and of the Electronic Design Automation Consortium (the international association of design tool manufacturers for the electronics industry).
